RAM upgrade cost a bomb because the old DDR2 version is rarely available.
As for HDD upgrade, NEC made the silly mistake of encasing the original HD in a thin metal frame, which can get stuck, or come apart altogether.
This notebook performs best with WinXP or Linux. Forget about Vista. Try to get Maxtor or Seagate new Hard Disks. Easy to clone because they come with free utility Maxblast software. Norton Ghost is slow and obsolete.</description>
