Upgrading HDD Notebook 160 GB
Upgrading my notebook’s HDD NEC Versa L1101 me with a higher capacity is very difficult. I want to upgrade because the HDD is affected side effects Telkomsel Flash Unlimit. HDD 60GB fast full turbulence often used to download, either film or program. Notebook HDD 2.5 “IDE bertipe with new capacity on the 100 GB is very difficult to find, all the new notebook at this time wearing bertipe SATA HDD. Yes this is a risk I buy a notebook with the former spek which have almost expired.
Search for HDD 2.5 “IDE over 100 GB of online sites selling the hardware is three-quarter money is the same alias. I contact all the sites online computer store jawabannya average stock is empty. The price is more expensive than SATA HDD berantar face. Finally, yesterday I find it to Surabaya for the Hi-Tech Mall. After the spin, I remember that I should buy in a store my subscription, Perdana Computer. I have no more a year to get there. Alhamdulillah I get HDD 2.5 “IDE 160 GB with the Samsung brand. Samsung HDD for this I had not have experience with this brand both in the desktop computer. Samsung HDD price is Rp 740,000.00.
At home, I try to make direct cloning Operating System Windows XP and my data partition, I always lazy to re-install, using the Norton Ghost miniPE. The process of cloning is to take 1 hour more. Then I change Fujitsu HDD 60 GB HDD with my Samsung 160 GB. Initially the process to enter the Samsung 160 GB HDD in a notebook I have difficulties, but with little force, alhamdulillah I can insert this hdd into my notebook. Alhamdulillah it can run the OS and Windows XP that long without any difficulties means.

I own the NEC Versa L1101 too, barely 5 years old but already going obsolete…
RAM upgrade cost a bomb because the old DDR2 version is rarely available.
As for HDD upgrade, NEC made the silly mistake of encasing the original HD in a thin metal frame, which can get stuck, or come apart altogether.
This notebook performs best with WinXP or Linux. Forget about Vista. Try to get Maxtor or Seagate new Hard Disks. Easy to clone because they come with free utility Maxblast software. Norton Ghost is slow and obsolete.
